Trips4Fundraising founder, Alyssa Johnson also attended the Essence Black Women in Hollywood Awards Luncheon at the Beverly Hills Hotel on February 19th.  Award winners included Halle Berry (Power Award), Gina Prince-Bythewood (Visionary Award), Oscar Nominee Taraji P. Henson (Lexus Star to Watch Award) and Diahann Carroll (Legend Award).  Presenters included Samuel Jackson, Terrence Howard, Queen Latifah and Essence Editor-in-Chief, Angela Burt-Murray. A beautiful tribute to Eartha Kitt was also presented.  Presenters and award winners delivered powerful, inspirational and tearful speaches.

On February 21st, Alyssa Johnson joined in “The Night Before” sponsored by Marilyn & Jeffrey Katzenberg to support the Motion Picture & Television Fund. The entertainment industry’s biggest stars come together the night before the Academy Awards at the Beverly Hills Hotel.  Guests included Leonardo DiCaprio and girlfriend Bar Rafaeli, Chris Rock, Mayor of Los Angeles Mr. Villaraigosa, John Malcovich, Tina Fey, Kevin Connolly and Oscar winner, Adrien Brody, among others. No shows included Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston!

Anna Lynne McCord from 90210 visits Trips4Fundraising at Bel Air pre Academy Award extravaganza on February 21st, 2009.

Weeks after the launching of Trips4Fundraising, the first promotional event took place at the 2009′s pre-Academy Awards events in Bel Air, California on February 21st, 2009.  Celebrities had a chance to see the luxury resorts in the Caribbean, Mexico and Central America that Trips4Fundraising makes available to charities nation wide.

The Bel Air pre-Oscar event also featured a silent travel auction to raise funds for the Melanoma Research Foundation, the largest private organization researching and advocating for the cure of  Melanoma. Trips to the Caribbean and Mexico were offered to event participants.

Other celebrities that attended included:  Michelle Chin from “Miami Vice” and “Best Friends”, Tamara Gorski from “Soul Food”, “Hercules”  and “The Lost World”,  Robert Valleta from “Tag the World” and “Young and the Restless”, Tasha Dixon from “Father and Son” and “Pocahontas”, baseball player and actor Nigel Thatch, Michael Stone (Sharon Stone’s brother) from “CSI Miami”, “Poncho and Lefty” and “Highlander II”, and Darin Brooks who stars as Max Brady in “Days of Our Lives”
